Game Summary

Game Notes:

Here are some of the highlights.

Period 1

1:21 – Good energy start for the Hawks with a turnover by Ellerby behind then net that allowed a centering pass from Luke Walker to McLaren (1) for the first score of the game and first goal of the year by Mclaren.

1:54 – Another Blazer turnover was scooped up by Undershute (3) and shot passed Priestner for the second goal of the period.

1:56 – Good scrape between Ryan Bender and Taylor Jordan. Bender was looking for a scrape early in the game when he kneed Sjodin. Taylor was agreeable especially after the first game between the two teams where Bender head butted Taylor. Taylor won this second encounter.

19:32 – A mementum killer for the Hawks with the First of 4 power play goals by Puustinen (5) assist from Nixon and Rohac. Puustineen camping out under the net was rewarded and unfortunately has been an all too common event for the young Hawk defense.

Period 2

Not a good period for the Hawks – out shot 15 -3 allowing 3 power play goals.

4:12 – No chance for White on power play goal by Puustinen (6) assist from Nixon and Rohac.

6:37 – Pretty wrap around move by Hawk forward Sceviour to set up a nice one-timer shot from Sjodin (2).

12:42 – More of the same on the power play from the Blazer’s Nixon (4) assist from Puustinen and Rohac.

14:27 – Not again… from 3rd power play goal in the period from Puustinen (7) assist from Nixon and Rohac.

Period 3

9:09 – Hawks come back to tie it with good activity around the net with Swystun (4) rebound goal off a Sceviour shot.

18:32 – With 88 seconds to go a Blazer scramble in front of the net gave ex hawk Golin his first goal of the season.

Andy’s Three Stars

Puustinen (KAM), Nixon (KAM), Sceviour (POR)
