Hawks vs. Tigers - Game 16 · 3 November, 15:49

The 9-1 lost at home to Spokane must have not set well with the Portland Winter Hawks scoring four times in the first 11:53 to defeat the league leading Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3.

Scoring started with Nick Hotson (3) at 0:21 off a face off, Matt Schmermund (3) at 6:30 with a rush at the net, Viktor Sjodin (3) at 10.27 off nice movement on the power play and Frazer McLaren (4) at 11:23 to finish a two-on-one off a Hat turnover. Medicine Hat came right back with three scores of their own to finish the period 4-3 with goals from Daine Todd, Jordan Hickmott and Mark Isherwood.

The Hawks met another milestone in their development of protecting a one goal lead. And miraculously the one goal lead was held for 2 periods. Kurtis Mucha was outstanding down the stretch, stopping 41 of 44 Medicine Hat shots on the night.

This is a great win for the Hawks showing that the young Hawks can compete in this league to beat a good team on the road.
